Putt Putt Meetup!
To wrap up the end of our first month with our first cohort of 2023, the McClinton Scholars mentees headed out to Puttshack to play a little mini golf. This was also the mentees first time meeting each other in person.
They played a round of 9 hole mini golf on the amber course, which is was reviewed to be harder than the emerald course. There were some newbies and some veterans, and even though it was close we had one mentee who reigned supreme! Ms. Kennedy Deveaux, holding 380 points!
After a good game of mini golf the students enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to talk with Ms. McClinton. They took the time to discuss why they wanted to be in the McClinton scholars mentoring program (MSMP), their college journeys, future goals, and give feedback on the MSMP over the past month.
Many of the mentees expressed they do not feel they have access to as many resources as they would like and therefore they feel as if they are on their own. Others expressed a lack of awareness of their options within their chosen field. These being key reasons they joined the program.
Previously the students had attended our programs “Resumes and LinkedIn workshop”, which they said was a great help. Thank you to Oni McCoy and Jazmine Barnes for helping and hosting. The students also shared how happy they were with their mentor pairs and they are excited to learn more.
To wrap up the meetup the students were given the chance to vote on the next meetup actvity and they decided we will be doing an escape room! This will be a great way for them to bond and show off their mental skills.
Till Next Time,
MS
